Nestpoint's Tim Phillips Weighs in on TikTok's Billionaire Buyout from China

Washington, D.C., September 22, 2025 — In a segment on Newsmax' National Report, Tim Phillips, Director of Government Affairs and Global Strategies at Nestpoint, addressed the significance of the proposed TikTok buyout that would transfer ownership from Chinese control to a U.S.-led consortium of prominent investors, including Lachlan Murdoch, Larry Ellison, and Michael Dell.

Phillips underscored TikTok’s continuing role in shaping American politics and culture, particularly as a direct channel to younger voters. He emphasized that while its cultural impact is undeniable, ensuring data security remains paramount.

“It’s the best way to reach younger voters, I think, other than person-to-person contact,” Phillips explained. “It’s crucial that the algorithm, what people are seeing and all the data collected by TikTok on the tens of millions of users, not just go right back to the Chinese Communist government. So, this is an important deal to get done for the national security of the United States.”

Phillips also pointed to the competitive advantage conservatives enjoy on the platform, attributing it to the authenticity of engagement and the resonance of their message. “We’re competing on the right very effectively because we have more authentic users rather than just some top-down approach the left uses. And candidly, we’ve got a better message. Freedom and prosperity sells,” he noted.

By framing the TikTok deal as both a cultural and national security imperative, Phillips highlighted Nestpoint’s broader expertise at the intersection of technology, policy, and geopolitics. His remarks reflected Nestpoint’s commitment to guiding clients through high-stakes developments that shape both domestic markets and global influence.
