BBC News: John Thomas Calls for Full Accountability in Epstein Case and Defends Kennedy Center Renovation Plan

Washington, D.C., February 2, 2026 — During a panel discussion on BBC News, Nestpoint Managing Director John Thomas addressed two issues drawing national attention: the Department of Justice’s latest release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein and the debate surrounding the future of the Kennedy Center in Washington.

Asked whether the DOJ was moving quickly enough in releasing the Epstein files, Thomas acknowledged the frustration felt by many Americans while emphasizing that transparency is only the beginning of the process.

“Transparency is the first step. And the second step is we need to see prosecutions of those who partook in the trafficking.”

Thomas noted that this issue has produced rare bipartisan alignment, with both parties calling for the full release of information and accountability for those who committed criminal acts. He cautioned, however, that the handling of the documents has created trust concerns and reputational consequences for individuals who may have been named in the files without evidence of wrongdoing.

He also addressed questions about whether the documents implicated President Trump, stating that nothing in the released materials suggested involvement beyond what was already publicly known. Thomas suggested that the hesitation in releasing the files may stem from the broad number of public figures whose names appear in the documents, regardless of culpability.

The conversation then shifted to a separate controversy surrounding President Trump’s decision to temporarily close the Kennedy Center for extensive renovations following recent rebranding efforts.

Drawing from firsthand experience hosting a major nonprofit event at the facility, Thomas offered a practical perspective on the state of the venue’s infrastructure.

“The amenities, the kitchens, the cafeterias — they’re in desperate need of repair.”

He explained that, in his view, a two-year closure for comprehensive upgrades is more effective than attempting gradual repairs while the facility remains partially operational, adding that the goal is to create a world-class performing arts venue worthy of its national stature.

Throughout the discussion, Thomas emphasized institutional responsibility, whether in ensuring accountability for victims or maintaining national cultural institutions.
